In Mickelson We Trust - Takes Four Stroke Lead at Northern Trust Open



Phil Mickelson looks to be back in form as he takes a 4-stroke lead into Sunday`s final round of the Northern Trust Open, in which hed will seek to win back to back Northern Trust Open championships at the Riveira Country Club.

Mickelson bested his opening round 8-under with an eagle and seven birdies in his second clean round of the Northern Trust Open, finishing with a 9-under 72 for the day.

Mickelson who shot a 1-over 72 in yesterday`s second round, spent the morning working with Butch Harmon on body positioning which seemed to pay off. For the second day in a row, Mickelson eagled the first hole and finished strong firing off four consecutive birdies from the fourteenth to seventeenth holes and finished with a ten stroke improvement over Friday`s second round.

Andres Romero of Argentina fired off seven birdies of his own, including birdies in his last three holes to finish with a 6-under to finish four strokes back of Mickelson in second place.

J.B. Holmes fired off nine birdies and finished with a 7-under 64 to move into contention with a 9-under through three rounds, five strokes back of Mickelson. Holmes started the theday on the fifty-second spot on the leaderboard and jumped into a two way tie with Luke Donald for tenth place.
